Did You Ever Want to be a Rock Stars?
An Improvisational Introduction to Play
with Helen Abel and Sean Garrett

Co-sponsored by the Life Performance Coaching Center and
the East Side Institute

The Life Performance Coaching Center and the East Side Institute invites you to spend an evening of improvised musical performance and discover how play helps develop environments that "rock" with creative and emotional growth. In this workshop, we will create music in a non-competitive, supportive environment. We will do some musical improvisation and build our group ensemble. No previous musical experience is necessary. Feel free to bring (non‑amplified) instruments if you wish.

Improvisation is a kind of adult play, and play is at the heart of the social therapeutic approach used at the Life Performance Coaching Center.  Over the last 40 years, Fred Newman (the founder of social therapy) and Lois Holzman (the Director of the East Side Institute) have advanced the discovery that play helps people of all ages to grow, develop and relate to themselves as creators of their lives.

Helen Abel is a Life Performance Coach on the staff of the Life Performance Coaching Center. She encourages growth and development by helping people learn how to use their capacity to create, perform and play.

Sean Garrett is a local rock singer with a background in choral, orchestral and theatrical music. He is a longtime supporter of independent educational organizations such as the All Stars Project (www.allstars.org).
